Tim Gilks - President
Attended the University of New Brunswick.
Mr. Gilks started in the food industry in the early 1980's, as a franchisee of Grandma Lee’s Bakery and Eating Places. After several years on the operations side, he transitioned into purchasing.
In 1990, joined Country Style Donuts as Director of Food Purchasing. He spent 10 years managing commodities, including Coffee, Wheat, Sugar and Edible Oils as well as all other ingredients and Equipment sourcing.
In 2000, joined the Mr. SUB as Director of Purchasing for Food, Packaging and Equipment.
Joined Tim Hortons in 2002, holding several positions within the Purchasing Department including Vice President of Purchasing and Commodities. His responsibilities included sourcing of all ingredients and overseeing of a department of 17 staff and a total expenditure of approximately $1 billion annually.
His primary individual focus was to manage all commodities for internal as well as external manufacturers input costs to Tim Hortons products. These commodities included Green Coffee, Wheat, Cocoa, Egg, Edible Oils and Sugar.
Throughout his career, he has continued to enhance his education in agriculture, futures, options, risk management and leadership at University of Guelph and the University of Memphis.
After leaving Tim Hortons, he formed Ojai Futures Trading Inc. which has allowed him to continue his long-term interest in the agricultural commodities industry. It also allows him to consult and advise foodservice chains and manufacturers on futures and options markets.
